2024 Conference Dates
The 2024 VMN Conference will be virtual! This means that most of the sessions will be recorded and available for viewing for a few months after the event, the price will be much less than an in-person event, and you can enjoy the sessions from the comfort of your own home. But, there also will be time built-in to the schedule for outdoor learning and service with your fellow chapter members or even neighboring chapters!
Having a virtual event in 2024 is in line with the VMN State Office’s commitment to host a virtual conference every third year to make this event more accessible to a wider VMN audience.
Please plan to join us September 27-29, 2024! This date coincides with National Public Lands Day, and we’ll work with chapters to make that part of the activities.
VMN Snapshot - Q3
To help communicate and celebrate all that our VMN volunteers are accomplishing, we share summaries of VMN volunteer service on a quarterly basis. Here are the numbers for the third quarter, July 1-September 30, 2023.

- Total service hours reported: 40,035 hours
- Service Hours by Type:
- Education/outreach - 9,743 hours
- Citizen science - 12,172 hours
- Stewardship - 11,265 hours
- Chapter administration - 6,855 hours
- Direct educational contacts reported: 121,721 contacts
- Indirect educational contacts reported: 700,595 contacts
- Continuing education hours reported: 4,720 hours
Thank you to everyone who has been reporting their VMN activities! If you haven’t been documenting your time in Better Impact this year, now’s the time to get caught up. We frequently need to run reports at different times of the year, so please do not save up all your hours to enter at the very end of the year. Enter them as you go along, or at least take time once a month to put them in. Plan ahead to make sure your service activities are approved and that you are choosing the right activity when you are inputting your time. Ask your chapter’s Projects Chair or Volunteer Service Chair if you need help determining what is approved.
VMN Continuing Education Webinars
Our CE webinar series will take a break in November during our Leadership Month, when we provide a series of training sessions for our chapter leaders. We’ll return on December 7 (12:00 pm) for the final CE webinar of the year - a look at several emerged, emerging, and potential future infectious diseases in Virginia’s wildlife, presented by VMN volunteer and veterinary expert Bob Dunstan (Northern Neck Chapter.) More details to come!
Remember that if you missed any webinars, you can still watch the recordings.
