Hello, VMNs. Happy Halloween! Hope you have a fun costume and a great party to wear it to. We’ve got several items for you this week so between trick-or-treaters, give this a thorough read. Tomorrow, when you’re eating the leftover candy, you can catch up on past Bi-weekly emails.
This email includes:
Our Very Viney 2024 Recertification Pin
We decided that the next recertification pin would feature either poison ivy or Virginia-creeper because of their widespread and ubiquitous occurrence across Virginia, because of their high value to wildlife species, and because we have not yet had a pin featuring a vine! We are now excited to announce that the artwork for the 2024 VMN recertification pin is this lovely rendition of Virginia-creeper by Rosalind Reilly of the James River Chapter. Thank you to Ros and the other 18 VMN artists who contributed such wonderful submissions. You will be able to see all of the submissions in the fall edition of The Pollinator, which will arrive in your inboxes later this week.
Need a refresher on whether and how you can earn a 2024 recertification pin? Step 1: You have achieved initial certification in a previous year; Step 2: You complete and log 40 hours of approved volunteer service and 8 hours of CE between January 1 and December 31, 2023. There’s still time!
Being a VMN - how to replace Recert pins
Have you lost a Recert pin over the years? Would you like to replace it? The VMN State Office has extras of all the past Recert pins and is happy to provide a replacement when needed. All you need to do is email Tiffany (tiffany.brown@vt.edu) anytime and include the following:
Tiffany will verify that you earned that pin and then send you a replacement to the address listed in your Better Impact profile.

Our 2024 Re-enrollment Period opens in one month, on December 1. The VMN State Office will provide information on how the process will work this year as well as step-by-step instructions for completing Re-enrollment in Better Impact.
